Frequently used terms.

Altcoin - any coin other than Bitcoin

BTC- Bitcoin - The very first cryptocurrency

Crypto - Crypto asset - Cryptocurrency - an electronic asset that uses cryptography and blockchain technology to provide a secure and normally decentralized currency.

DeFi - Decentralized Finance - Financial activities performed outside of governmental or even one country governance.

Fiat - Currency that is backed by a governmental entity Dollars, Yen, Yuan, Pounds are all examples of Fiat.

FUD - Fear Uncertainty and Doubt - the default response most folks have when they first hear about Crypto

HODL - A Drunken tweet spelling of HOLD  HODL was the response when asked what to do when the price of BTC was falling. Now it is commonly used as an acronym meaning Hold On for Dear Life
